Slave to Sirens is a Lebanese thrash/death metal band that came to life in late 2015, born from a powerful connection when life led guitarist Lilas Mayassi to Shery Bechara. What started as a shared passion for heavy music soon evolved into the first and only all-female thrash metal band in the Middle East. Since then, the band has performed across Lebanon, opening for international metal acts like Onslaught, Decapitated, and Destruction. They have also performed on international stages such as the Glastonbury Festival, Wacken Open Air, and L’boulevard Festival in 2019. Slave to Sirens released one EP, “Terminal Leeches,” in 2018 and in 2024 the band shared two singles from their latest album “Echoes Of Silence“, Salomé and Extinguish The Sun which features Anita Tóth on vocals and Inge Van Der Zon on drums.
In 2022, Sirens, a film directed by Emmy Award US filmmaker Rita Baghdadi, the first feature from Natasha Lyonne and Maya Rudolph’s Animal Pictures, made its world premiere at Sundance in World Cinema Documentary competition on January 23. The film follows members of Slave to Sirens, as they wrestle with political instability, friendship, sexuality, and destruction in their pursuit of becoming thrash metal pioneers.
Streaming is available only for USA and Canada.
